Downtown Chambersburg Inc. (DCI) recently hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the highly anticipated Spring Street Amphitheater project, located at the corner of Spring Street and Lincoln Way West next to Chambers Fort Park. This project marks a significant step toward revitalizing downtown Chambersburg, promising to offer a unique venue for community gatherings, performances and outdoor events.

The new amphitheater will hold over 400 people and feature hardscape seating, a covered performance space, landscaping, fencing, pathway lighting and other amenities. In 2022, the Chambersburg Borough received an $879,865 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, helping to fund this transformative project.

A diverse lineup of speakers attended the ceremony, highlighting the collaborative spirit that has propelled the project forward. Among the speakers were DCI Board Chair Jenna Kaczmarek, DCI Amphitheater Committee Chair Stacy Mellot and DCI President Sam Thrush. Other notable attendees included Representative Rob Kauffman, County Commissioner Bob Ziobrowski, Christie Yerger of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development; Allen Coffman of Chambersburg Borough Town Council, Mike Ross of Franklin County Area Development Corporation and Project Administrator John Boozer.
