Cabin Fever Music Fest Raises Nearly $15,000 for Homeless Animals

On a memorable Saturday evening, March 1, the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter hosted its highly anticipated Cabin Fever Music Fest at The Orchards Restaurant and banquet facility in Chambersburg. This annual event, hailed as the shelter’s largest fundraiser, lived up to its reputation by drawing a crowd of approximately 300 enthusiastic supporters. Together, they raised nearly $15,000 to support the shelter’s ongoing adoption programs and services for homeless animals.
An Evening Filled with Music and Generosity
The event, billed as ‘One Venue – 5 Bands – 1 Evening!’, was a musical journey through the decades, featuring a diverse array of genres from the 1960s to today. The lineup boasted talented local bands including The Jill Fulton Band, Soleil, The Negley Brothers, Cameron Molloy & The Drivin’ Wheel, and Club Medics, all of whom generously donated their performances. The sound and lighting expertise was provided by All Sound Pro LLC, adding to the evening’s lively atmosphere.
Tiffanie Smoyer, executive director of the shelter, shared her excitement, “Our turnout was amazing: delicious food, great music and a variety of fun ways to raise money for CVAS! A good time was had by everyone! After all, who doesn’t enjoy a community night out for a good cause?” She expressed heartfelt gratitude to The Orchards, the bands and local businesses for their unwavering support, which made it possible to raise substantial funds for the shelter’s mission.
Community and Business Support: A Strong Foundation
The success of Cabin Fever was bolstered by strong support from regional businesses. Premier event sponsors, VFW Post #1599 and F&M Trust, led the way, alongside other generous contributors such as Menno Haven Communities, Nitterhouse Masonry Products, and Kyner’s Auto Sales, among others. This collective commitment highlights the community’s dedication to aiding the shelter’s efforts.
Cameron Schooley, CVAS board president, emphasized the importance of these contributions, stating, “We’re always thankful for our business sponsors who contribute heavily each year to Cabin Fever with their support. Those of us with the Shelter greatly value that type of commitment from our local business owners. This event really isn’t about the shelter, it’s really a way for us to continue our adoption programs and other services for our animals – many of which have been lost or abandoned, surrendered, and often times abused.”
Looking Ahead: Upcoming Events and How to Help
The community’s support doesn’t stop with Cabin Fever. The shelter has exciting events lined up in 2025, including the Annual CVAS Easter Hound Hunt on April 13 and the Mike Krugh Memorial Golf Tournament on June 6. Keep an eye on the shelter’s website at www.cvas-pets.org for updates and details.
